My local town has a wonderful park with a lake and plenty of wildlife, loads of squirrels and and fantastic display of trees. Originally it all belonged to Stratford House which was a big mansion situated within the park, this is now the location of the towns marvelous "Museum in the Park".
The house was built in the mid 16th century and also had it's own orangery in the grounds. Originally it had a glass roof and glass windows. Although it's only the stonework today, it's a lovely place to walk through or to just sit a while and watch the squirrels.
A bit of history about these buildings: Orangeries first started popping up in central Europe around the 16th century, when glass-making technology had advanced. Their main purpose was to winter citrus fruits and exotic plants, hence the name! With the trade of these fruits and plants increasing, wealthy people were keen to have their own place to maintain these luxuries all year round, so they built grand orangeries.
