I've lived in my little village for over 30 years and over the years I've noticed this old gentleman walking back and fourth through the village a couple of times a day. As the years have progressed his walk and stature has waned so that today it is a slow shuffle.
I've always wanted to get a photograph of him as he has become the village character. In Winter he wears a fur deerstalker hat and thick coat, whereas this is his Summer attire. He sometimes uses a stick that has come from the hedgerows with a "Y" in the top for his fingers, because of this my neighbour calls him the stick man.
I managed to find him just a few yards from my house, resting on the bench near the chapel. It was nice to finally get to talk to him for a while and he let me take his picture - Please meet Lionel, in his late 80's who has been part of the village for 50+ years.
A charming capture, bet he was pleased to have someone to chat to:-)FAV!!Lionel was my dad's first name, too, although he as always known as Frank, his middle name:-)
Next time you see Lionel tell him from me that he doesn't look a day over 70!
Lovely photo Heather. It's so nice that you got to talk to him after all those years.
A wonderful capture - it reminded me of my grandfather, who, in his retirement years, would walk to town everyday. He loved to talk with people and never met a stranger!
Great portrait too!
