Thank you for all your comments and FAV's on my gutted hollyhock yesterday. Just to clear up a misunderstanding, this is still in the road gutter, it was the ones on the pavement the council removed.
I was having a wander around my flower friends garden, I ought to name her really, Angie. I was looking for any interesting flower or plant I hadn't captured before.
I was stood on one of the patios when I noticed this plant in a wire cage. That must be one hell of a dangerous plant if it had to be contained in that I thought, so I called Angie over for an explanation.
I was being clever with my surmising, when she said it wasn't dangerous. Then was it to keep the birds off the plant. No she said with a smile. OK, so why is it kept in a cage I pleaded. That's the cage I put over the seedlings trays to keep the birds away, it doesn't belong on that planter, I just put it there while I moved the seedlings into the greenhouse.
Oh well just goes to show how my mind works again. View with the dark background..
It made for a great shot and fun story. Thinking it might be a useful idea also to keep the squirrels off the loquat tree. Maybe I can pick up a discarded cage at the zoo?
