Although it was still a bit wet and cold I had to go out and get some shopping in. I had run out of milk, eggs and more importantly, was almost down to one sheet of toilet paper, newspaper is just not the same but I could do the crossword while I was waiting.
After a big shop I decided to look for some photograph opportunities on the way home and went out to a very small hamlet off the beaten track. I then spotted this lovely pair of thatch cottages and noticed that the one on the left was for sale.
Returning home I did some investigation and found out the were Grade II listed, meaning they have to stay as they are, and date from the late 16th or early 17th century. If you would like to purchase the left had one, known as Sundial Cottage, it would cost you £250, 000 ($360,000 US Dollars). Think I will give it a miss as I couldn't mow the roof (Wink).
View with the dark surround and thanks for all your comment's and FAV's.
Very pretty Heather. We have thatched down our Kane & while they look lovely in the summer or when newly thatched both properties have green like this....they look like they need a bit of attention. I think you are supposed to have them raked periodically.
Nicely captured! I would love to purchase it as a vacation home, but will have to wait until I win the over one billion dollar lottery this week. I will have to settle for faving it for now.
Having a good supply of toilet paper is as important as a good supply of gin and/or library books! These houses are pretty on the outside but so dark on the inside!
Looks like one house to me! And at first I thought it was yours - never mind, reality hits us all :) @pasttheirprime They still make puzzles using this picture! Fav
@pasttheirprime Brilliant, made me laugh!
