You all know how much I love the old Cotswold stone cottages and houses that make up so much of our towns and villages in my area. Therefore I must admit that anything built among these building in the 60's and 70's I find horrible.
We are an area of hills and valleys so just think of the problems trying to build high-rise apartments or flat on the hills. Well they did master it and you will notice that at first it's 5 stories high, changing to 3 stories and finally 2 stories. The views are fantastic but I wouldn't want to live in little boxes stacked on top of each other like this.
Thank you for taking time to look at my captures, I may not like the building but it makes for an interesting picture from a lower road, and I'm still not in the bottom of the valley. View with the dark surround.
I know they don't fit in in the Cotswolds but for city flat dwellers there are much bigger and taller blocks they have to live in. All kinds of social problems arise. At least these have a good view and ready access to wonderful countryside. I love the traditional stone cottages of course.
Great capture and it reminds me of the 1960s song too.
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky,
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same.
Great angle & shot.
I agree with you, I really dislike these types of buildings. Apart from being ugly, they have no character & you find them in every part of the UK. We have a lot of them here in Cambridgeshire.
Much better to see buildings built in local materials.
