A Pretty Corner in the Village. by ladymagpie

A Pretty Corner in the Village.

How many different things can I cram into one picture, taken in my little village. From left to right we have an old gateway in the Cotswold stone wall, next a mile stone against the wall with the local letterbox above.

Then behind you have a beautiful old dovecote with the cottage alongside. To me it's a pretty tranquil spot that I past most days but thought it would make for a pretty picture.

To be honest the capture was full of telephone cables, TV Aerial and a telegraph pole which I have tried to remove, seems to have worked. Thanks for all you comments for yesterday's picture, can I take it that all the FAV's were from friends that wanted to be locked in in the wine isle. View with the dark surround if you can.
You neglected to say the year, I always enjoy your old world charm !Heather. The village not you!

Beautiful building!

Dovecote - had to look that one up. Why would you build a bird box so large? answered that...

the possession of a dovecote was a symbol of status and power and was consequently regulated by law.

Very pretty. You did a good job removing the telephone cables, etc. That stuff always seems to be in the way and spoils a picture.

Nicely composed and captured. Nothing like a bit of english stone.

Lovely scene. So much to look at here. You could almost do an a to z of this shot. Archway, bricks, Cotswold stone, dovecote, etc.

Good processing to get rid of all the 21st century detritus! I would love to have a dovecote like this.
