For a couple of years I produced a series called "Then and Now" which ran in our weekly newspaper the Stroud News and Journal. It became very popular but it also became very time consuming.
I would find a local old postcard scene and go and stand in the same place as the original photographer, or as near as possible. I then came home to crop the photograph I've taken to get it almost identical as the original.
The last stage is to write up a few paragraphs of the history of where you are and talk about any major changes. I pop out to take a picture in a hillside village and this shows my biggest bugbear, CARS and didn't it look better without them.
Thanks for all your comments and FAV's yesterday for the little cottage.
Sounds like a lot of work for our project - hope you got paid well! I like to see these sorts of comparisons too. Doesn't look as if mutes changed here except for the cars!
This is a neat posting of "Then and Now". I love to look at old photos of our community and compare them to the present. When I find time I might try something similar to this. Thanks for the idea.
Yes I agree with you about the cars, but we couldn't be without them. These old streets certainly were not built for the newer, larger 4X4s which take up more than their fair share of the road.
Well done.fav.
