It's Easter school holidays at the moment and I find it a nightmare in supermarkets and when I'm out geocaching. You can't hide from an inquisitive child who often appear from nowhere with the words, "What you doing Mrs.". I have to refrain from giving them a poke in the eye, I love children really and have had 3 myself, but hurrah they have all grown up and flown from Lady Magpies nest years ago.
I digress from my capture which is this lovely little village school that dates from 1850, there is a sign above the door. Every little village had it's school where perhaps only a few children of all ages were taught by a couple of teachers.
I love this old building which has now become the village hall, when a very modern primary school was built to accommodate the families in the growing villages around the area. I just love the thought of seeing the children play in this playground back in 1850, jut what did they play, skipping, hop-scotch or hide and seek.
Thank you all for your comments and FAV's for my rainbow, I even had a request to sing louder.
Great architecture! Even with the school bell still standing! Lovely strong old building - glad they have a use for it! Some of our old school buildings are being demolished!
What an amazing building and history and I rather like picturing it back in it's day as well. Glad it's still being used. Very funny too...your comments about being happy the children have flown the nests. Had to laugh.
So good to here that the building has been put to good community use Heather. So many villages have no focal point these days. Lovely building and a great shot
I first stepped inside here in 1959/60 so it has many memories for me. The chimney was for the stove that kept the room warm and the small milk bottles were kept close to the fire in winter to melt the ice on the top before the morning break. Great photo.
