I was having a quiet afternoon yesterday when suddenly there was a terrific noise outside. It went on for ages so I went out to see what it was. I was confronted with this helicopter circling above my bungalow and creating a real din.
Oh I thought, the paparazzi have found me at last, well they have before with 3 camera men and reporters sat on my doorstop, but that's another story. I rushed inside, combed my hair and grabbed the camera.
It continued to circle around very low with a terrific noise and I thought it was looking for somewhere to land. Was I having a visit from the Queen, was I about to become a Dame, I was seeing lights with Dame Lady Magpie on, fame was going to my head.
As I uploaded my picture later it became evident that it was nothing special, just the Electricity Board checking the overhead cables, all that wasted smiling and posing for nothing. Thanks for all your comments and FAV's
I've heard the Queen sometimes travels incognito in a utility 'copter, so you can never be quite sure. Glad you combed your hair...just in case...love your stories and pix!
They can be incredibly noisy can't they & we Lways seem to think there is some emergency when we see them overhead. Sorry they weren't coming to take you somewhere special!

Once during our RAF days Princess Anne parked her helicopter on the sports field in front of our house at RAF Henlow. She was staying the night at Henlow on her way to some horse show.
