A Fiery Begonia by ladymagpie

A Fiery Begonia

After all this European rubbish I feel like a holiday and perhaps travel to Begonia in Eastern Europe. Well I know there is no such place but it does sound like a country next to Romania a Bulgaria and of course would be very fiery next to the Russian border.

I actually found this wonderful flower in my big Brothers garden as I have been looking after his home while he was on holiday, I can say that as he's back now. This is a colourful Wax Begonia, so named after the waxy green leaves and I like the stamens that rise from the center. View with the dark surround,

Thank you for all you comments and FAV's for the blackbird in the park, I might have to go flitting around the freezers again next week.
Aptly named both country and flower!

Lovely shot, I like the sound of a country called Begonia too.
Reminds me of the book by Douglas Adams and John Lloyd, The Meaning of Liff where they took place names and put meanings to them. Here is an extract. http://liff.hivemind.net/

I'd like to escape to Begonia as well. I lived half of my life in Africa where these type of bushes were grown as hedges to separate gardens, so beautiful. I think they were more of the Hibiscus variety though. Love this photo for the memory and great shot! Fav!
