For those who follow me on Facebook may well have seen this picture last night and the incredible story that goes with it.
I had an appointment at Cheltenham Hospital, which is about 20 miles from home, to talk to a consultant about a cataract that had been spotted on my left eye. All was going OK until the consultant was examine me and suddenly told me to go back to the waiting room and do not leave the hospital.
He called me back in to say that the pressure on the back of both eyes was dangerously high and he would have to give me emergency laser eye treatment to reduce the pressure. What was frightening was he kept repeat, "You mustn't leave the hospital". I was constantly being given different eye drops and then my Brother got bored and decided to go home.
The laser zapping didn't take that long but the heat was high, should have put my bikini on. I was then told to wait again for another hour before they he tested the pressure again.
Finally I was give permission to go home around 5.00 pm and I had been in that waiting room since 10.30 am - 6 1/2 hours and all I had eaten was a banana for breakfast. A quick call to Bruv to fetch me which needed another 40 minutes wait, I did find a sandwich at the hospital shop. So the photograph is the journey home, and to think I have to go through this all again to discuss my cataract problem. At least the NHS has saved my sight for a little longer.
Much better reviewed with the dark surround and thanks for all your comment.
We've had similar hair raising appointments.... hubby went for check up on his eye a few years post surgery.. bit shocked to be told his surgery was rejecting.... he was whipped up to a ward and put on immunosuppresant drugs and loads of eye drops! Wishing you a less dramatic few days and healthy eyes for a while longer! Thank goodness too for family
