These are not an in-salt to History

My latest finds are these silver open salts with blue glass liners, with years of history. Hallmarked in London in 1779, just think of the amount of people to have used these over the past 239 years, wish they could tell you their story.

Just think that on the 14th February 1779 (tomorrow and Valentines Day), the great explorer Captain James Cook (No relative) was murdered in Kealakekua Bay, Hawalii. He had upset the natives and was stabbed to death, they must have been so upset that they started to eat him a week later. Hope you're not eating your tea.

I don't think the natives needed these salts as I expect that Captain Cook being known as an old sea salt, was probable salty enough. I love the ball clawed feet legs.

Boo
eugh, gruesome story for the afternoon but I kept on reading anyway...hahaha

Just thought, Of course the natives didn't eat any of the crew - because being the crew they were under-Cook-ed.

I love your stories - even if I'm eating my breakfast - and your salty sense of humour is fun :)

So the salt is just poured into these and one pinches the amount they want? Think we should go back to this way!

Would it be rude of me to say I like your feet?

Love the salt pots, their little faces are the cutest. Captain Cook’s history is fascinating too. He did well to last as long as he did on trips around the world ‘discovering’ places.
