We are in the middle of storms this morning with high winds and driving rain. When I looked out of my kitchen window to see if there had been any damage during the night, I spotted what I thought was 2 large leaves stuck to the garage door.
Suddenly one of the leaves moved, and on a second look, after wiping sleepy dust out of my eyes, I realised that they were some sort of small birds. I grabbed my camera as I hadn't seen anything like these before, they were trying to shelter against my garage door.
Checking Google they seem to be Red-legged Partridges from New Zealand, not what you usually spot in the Cotswold Hills. Perhaps they were looking for a pear tree, well it will soon be Christmas and as the Carol goes, "And a Partridge in a Pear Tree".
We have a red legged partridge coming to eat under our burd table, we are always thrilled to see it, never seen two of them so nit sure if he has a mate somewhere. Poor little things, awful to be a bird in a strong wind!
