This captured was taken from the field behind my home, unfortunately my garages and another bungalow blocks this view from my kitchen window.
You can see for miles, but lets look at places nearer the camera first. In the centre you can make out a typical old cloth mill, there are many throughout my valleys. Sheep and cloth manufacturing was the major industry where everyone worked, including another mill that still makes the green Baize cloth for snooker tables. This mill in view is currently being converted to flats.
In comparison on the left is the Milk Marketing Board Factory where millions of yogurts are made every day. Now look on the right where you can see an old quarry face, this was where thousands of bricks where made for many years, long gone now.
Okay now for the background of the capture, and you can see May Hill in the centre with a cluster of trees on the top, this is just on the edge of Gloucestershire and slightly right you can just make out the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire.
Perhaps you can understand why I wouldn't want to leave these Stroud Valleys.
You are a great story teller Heather . Your descriptive monologue kept me looking to and fro from words to image - a lot of history here and a lovely green and pleasant land . I can see why you never want to leave your home county !
Amazing valley shot, love the narrative.....I guess it is sheer luck that the wool mill is in the center of the pic, they must know what side of the sheep the wool is on.
The outside, I know so bad. It’s supposed to be a chicken and feather joke.
How very interesting Heather...quite a lot of sources of local employment which is always good news. Lovely countryside too....our area is very precious be it city, countryside or seaside....its home.
