It's another capture from my wander through my former home of Stonehouse. This is a beautiful small garden behind the high street and as you can see is called, "The Old Chapel Garden".
It's not quite correct as this was the site of the Stonehouse Congregational Church, but let's not split hairs on church and chapel. It's a very pretty place where you can sit and perhaps have a coffee for a café nearby.
On the other side, looking through those pine trees, is the local park where we played as children day after day. There were lots of swings, rocking horses and a huge slide, must mention my big Brother Alan fell off the slide and broke his arm.
I can well remember the Congregational Church being here, with a wonderful arch gateway out the front. It was built in 1827 and although popular through the years, closed it's doors in December 1964. As with many empty buildings, it was mysteriously gutted by fire in 1967. Today the High Street front has shops in it's place, but you can walk through to the back and find this beautiful garden.
