The bad weather continues and so I was forced to sit on my settee watching the birds on my feeders and taking pictures through two panes of glass. I love my birdies so much that I even nip out with an umbrella to top the feeders up now and then, plus my hat of course.
There has been an abundance of goldfinches, along with greenfinches, sparrows and blue tits. The bigger birds don't like me very much, the starlings and pigeons can't hold on to the feeders whilst the jackdaws and crows have given up. I do put a few items on a table for them.
I love watching these goldfinches as they seem to be so nervous and rather than eating, they keep looking around everywhere. So lets say they would be more than happy to succeed in staying safe, rather than trying to suck seed for a meal.
Such a lovely past-time for us oldies as long as we keep the windows clean !! Lovely shot , and lucky you ,as the Jackdaws have cleverly worked out how to feed off the feeders in my garden - sometimes a swipe in flight and sometime a very neat balancing act ! Unfortunately eating me out of house and home !
You have the nicest birds visiting your garden Heather....we made the mistake when we were temporarily in the bungalow of using a ground feeder....the starlings & pigeons nearly ate us out if house & home! When we go back we are just going to use the hanging feeders! The heavy mob have given up & moved on so we’re not falling into that trap again!
