Right opposite one of our supermarkets is a beautiful park with wondrous trees, several squirrels and a large pond. Beside the pond runs this river which seems to be the home of the wildlife. The big question is, can you spot a duck anywhere?
I love the phrase "Cor Blimey, luv a duck", but where do you think it comes from. I always thought it was a Cockney slang from the east side of London. Well you often here the expression cor as a surprise, often increased to Cor Blimey, then Cor Luv a Duck.
Cor Blimey originates from religious saying of "God Blind Me", and "God love a Duck", was reduced to the surprise of Cor Blimey, as said by Cockneys. My Father was a Cockney being born in Lambeth, which within the sounds of Bow Bells, a church right in the heart of London. You're not a cockney unless you are born within sound of those bells.
Saying that, my Father never had a cockney twang as his family moved away from the centre of London when he was young. Right, now can you see a duck yet, or perhaps I should have said can you see the river under all the ducks.
