Every other Thursday I'm usually kicked out of my bungalow while the cleaners are here. Well I wouldn't want them to mop around me. Unfortunately one of them was poorly so their visit was cancelled.
It just happened to be the day that my local Auction House was live on the internet, so I just had to watch what was going on. It was going very well with some nice items sold that I could have bought.
Suddenly I must have had hiccups, as I accidently pressed the button twice and bought some items. Well that's my excuse if my youngest Son questions me. Well alright you have to sign in to register and then sign in again to bid, I won't tell him that bit.
So what did I accidently push the button (Cough), It's a lovely small pedestal goblet, dated for London 1900, and a nice set of boxed teaspoons dated for Sheffield 1924. I had to go out in the end to pick them up.
There you go, accidents can happen and it was all the cleaners fault. I hope you do believe me, or am I telling fibs again, perhaps I was suffering with spoonerisms.
May I ask how much does such a box with spoons cost? Don;t need the exact price. Just a rounded sum, either plus or minus. I'm not judging. I'm only damn curious.
A long time ago, when I was in GB, I landed in a room with a lot of old items, for sale. Like a fair or something. And I just could not leave the room without a pair of beautiful tiny golden earrings. I can;t remember the price, but I can pledge it was very cheap (back then I could not afford too much). And the earrings are really small and thin, very little gold. Must have been something up to GBP 10, i reckon.
@monikozi I have several boxes but they must be fully hallmarked solid silver, cost me approx £30, but that's at an auction, not retail which would be more..
Of course it was an accident! I have had similar ones, especially in the supermarket - sweets and chocolate have a tendency to just fall into my cart, completely by accident. Nothing to do with me.
These spoons are lovely, by the way!
Beautiful acquisitions Heather….I think your son won’t mind as you will have stuff worth a fortune in your house! Don’t be broadcasting it all over the place on FB! I’m a sucker fir auctions but I haven’t been to one for ages. Cattle auctions were the best when we went to the pedigree cow sales.
