I've lived in my small bungalow for over 35 years with just a small garden to the front, and in the middle of a small village.
Every year I wait for Iris to come into flower and then I know Spring is here again. It stands in the very front corner of the garden, right next to the roadside pavement, and many villagers or walkers stop to stare at it.
Perhaps I should put a sign up that says, "Hello I'm Iris, welcome to Spring".
Wonderful! Have you ever watched one opening? When the bud is somehow diamond-shaped and if you have a few minutes, you can watch the petals unfold. It's amazing.
