My girlfriend and I went to get pictures of this tower which is located in Delaware State Park after sunset and when we arrived it was not lite. The park closes at sunset but we waited hoping the timers would kick on and we would get our picture before a Delaware Park police car happen to drive through and kick us out. At least that's all I hoped they would do. After waiting about 30 minutes we left and drove into Dewey before turning back to head home. Jokingly we said watch it be lite now and we were pleasantly surprised to notice the blue glow in the distance. Yep with big smiles we pulled back into the park, set up our tripods and got our pictures. With a big puddle in the parking lot I took my camera off the tripod and placed it on the ground right at the puddles edge to get the towers reflection. I have gotten photos of this tower before in the summer being eaten up by mosquitos. It was so nice not having to suffer to get this picture again.
Some information about the towers:
This is Tower 3 located close to Dewey Beach, Delaware. The tower is 64 feet tall and 16 feet in diameter. At the top observation deck you can see 14 miles with the right weather conditions.
Eleven Towers were built from 1939 to 1942 to defend Delaware’s coastline in World War II, protecting the entrance to Delaware Bay from German ships. They have 1 foot cement walls and were expected to last 20 years but still stand. Eight soldiers were assigned to each tower. They are raising money to restore the towers. This tower is the second one being restored and the only one that is lite right now.
