The BroodX 17 year cicadas have started appearing in Maryland. They are harmless but some areas will have thousands and thousands emerge from the ground. I did get a picture of him in the vw and I'll stick that in my extra album.
He was a very good model and was rewarded for his work. I placed him on our large maple tree trunk which is where he wanted to be. He will climb up and if he's lucky will find a mate.
Thanks for the link. I haven’t noticed any around us yet but cicadas are a part of our summer life every year so I may not be as aware. Really cute photo and I admire your patients to get it!
