In The Woman's Garden at the Arboretum this bronze sculpture, The Neighbor, stands between the garden's two reflecting pools. The custom for women visiting the garden is to pose beside her, looking in the same direction she is looking. We took Lori's granddaughter Felicity to the Arboretum and of course had to put her by the sculpture! You can't see Lori, but she was right there, in case Felicity decided to go for a swim.
My first thought was - yikes, she's too near the water - then I noted the carefully omitted hand that was holding onto hers. What an interesting sculpture.
Such a fabulous sculpture! I'd love to visit this Arboretum! Cute shot of Felicity and The Neighbor. It would be neat to get shots of Felicity in the same pose every year, as she is getting older. :-)
Thank you! The Neighbor is the iconic symbol of The Woman's Garden, she was the sleeper hit when it opened 20 years ago. It's funny, but rarely do you see a photo of her from the front. Lol.
