If you like to decorate with dried plants, the seed pods the Magnolia trees drop are quite beautiful. The "rest of the story" is that they have to be picked up before you can mow your lawn. I picked up probably 50 this morning, and this is just the beginning. I will pick them up for several weeks. I'm not one of the ladies on Etsy who sells them "dried and insect free", they aren't really a joy to me, smile.
I can understand your non-fascination with selling them on Etsy. They are pretty though. Great picture. I didn't realize the pods were so colorful. But I've never had a magnolia tree.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments! @henrir Thank you for your fav! @taffy I just gather them up and toss them in the landscape bin (the city picks up plant clippings on Mondays) I don't do anything creative with them. Smile. @nicolecampbell I guess I better ask Santa for a macro lens!
I wonder if you put them in a bucket and wrote a little sign that said, "free Magnolia seed pods for crafters" how many would stop by to pick them up? Pretty for photos though- in spite of all the work to pick them up from the yard.
