A Heron, not an Egret? by louannwarren

A Heron, not an Egret?

I went to a local lake yesterday to get some photos for my 365 project. This fellow seemed to have the stance of an Egret but little else was Egret-like. So I’m thinking he was a Heron of some variety!
Such a lonely figure ! so still and quiet -- A lovely composition !

Nicely captured. I think it's a Heron; as far as I know an Egret is smaller and white.

What an awesome image. I love how the heron is standing so tall and looking off into the distance. Although this is a scene of some vastness my eye goes right to the heron! Beautiful tones as well. Fav!!

Thank you so much for your comments. I got all confused on him holding his head so high, I thought Herons kept their heads closer to their bodies, I have so much to learn. Ha! Thank you so much for your fav, @365karly1 I appreciate it!

Such a lovely shot and capture of the bird. The layers of rock along the water's edge are beautiful.
