Legend has it that when a Dallas socialite wanted to have her wedding at the DMA, her mother thought the glass wall in the restaurant was too plain. The bride’s father commissioned Dale Chihuly to design art glass platters that were installed on the glass wall, as a gift to the museum. The glass wall frames a wonderful view of downtown Dallas and it’s skyline. It’s interesting that the art glass draws your attention away from that view!
This is very nice and a lovely composition. It is Chihuly at his most restrained if his past installations at Kew Gardens and Atlanta Botanic Garden are anything to go by.
I love this, LouAnn! I thought it was the one in Tacoma, Washington at first! That is the one I saw. My favorite Chihuly are his flowers and his ceiling panels...heaven! :)
