Ruthie’s granddaughter renovated a historic firehouse for her restaurant and named it the “Firehouse Gastro Park”. They made the side area into a live music/play patio. It is so perfect for young families. They’ve tried to think of everything at this new spot and people are coming in droves for the food, the bands, the coffee and the cocktails. I thought this photo of the stage area was lovely at dusk the other night.
My first thought was, "Ohhh...love the look of this! Whose photo is it???" Nice, Lou Ann! There's a similar setting where we go with the grands in Carpinteria, and with the sand pit, the kids have a great time while the adults can sit and visit!
@Weezilou The young couple who own this place just returned to Texas after 10 years in California. They lived in LA and literally were caterers to the stars. They brought some fantastic California ideas with them. This place is a show stopper in every way!
@louannwarren Lucky Texans to now have their expertise, and given California's terrible taxes for degraded living, good for them for getting on the bandwagon out of there!
@Weezilou their chef just moved here, he and his young family are overwhelmed with how much better they can live here. They are great, hard working young people, I’m sure Texas will be their home from now on.
@domenicododaro if you ever have a reason to come to Dallas, let me know! Jerry and I will make sure you see the Firehouse Gastro Park and many other sites. @danette this is just the first of several eating places, shops and a hotel that are going in that area, everyone is so excited. It’s especially nice because it’s in the old downtown of the suburb named Grand Prairie. So there will be several old buildings given new life!
