When we were in the 7 year drought, all commercial landscapers planted Yuccas and other southwestern plants. By the time the drought ended, we had decided we liked the look of these “almost cactus” plantings and now they are used for the majority of commercial landscapes. Many of them have prickly leaf edges so they aren’t that popular in home landscapes. The Yuccas grow thick trunks over many years, their “canteens” to hold water during droughts.
Lovely shades of green in your yucca ,Lou Ann ! I had to get rid of the one in the garden as it root system got out of control and was lurching under my fish pond (in search of water I think !)
I like Yuccas too- had them in my last garden and enjoyed their stalks of white flowers (although I've been introduced to the red ones on 365). I miss them but think they may not be deer resistant even though they are drought resistant!
