FoR Landscape 6

Still in Oregon, this is Mt.Hood, a stratovolcano. It last erupted in 1865-66 and at 11,249 feet elevation, is the tallest mountain in Oregon. These images from the Portland, Oregon USS Hornet reunion bring back sweet memories of the couple from Oregon who presided over the reunion. They were a great couple, so involved in the ship’s association. Last October they flew to a family wedding out of state, contracted Covid and both passed away on the same day in early November. The association has lost several members to the virus, as the majority are in their 80’s.

evokes a lot of emotions on the viewer. the black and white excellently captures the sanctity of the flag and the power of nature. aces, law. aces!

stories like this when i hear it, makes me madder at those politicians who say that the virus is a hoax and september 11 never happened.

@joansmor @ludwigsdiana @jacqbb @farmreporter @grammyn @pcoulson @linnypinny @ziggy77 @summerfield @mittens @beryl @carolmw @bkbinthecity @gijsje @happypat @carole_sandford @kwind thank you all so much for your wonderful and kind comments and faves. This is on the TP, so nice. One of the traditions at the Hornet reunions is the Memorial service. We did not have a reunion in 2020 and honestly I doubt we will have one this year. The memorial service when we do meet (probably 2022) will be especially poignant and meaningful because of the shipmates who died from Covid.
