I texted my son “remember when I could decorate the whole house in one day and take everything down in one day?” He said he did remember, I said “I don’t know what’s happened, but I can’t do that anymore!” He sent a laughing emoji and said “remember what your doctor told you, you aren’t as young as you used to be”. So my decorating and undecorating take more than twice as long now. My memory tree has entirely too many memories on it, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. These are photos from the dining room and living room trees, not my Cowboy tree. I have a friend who puts up 12 trees, can you imagine?
A fabulous collage!
One of the benefits of living in a small home is that there is not a whole lot of room to decorate so it goes up, and comes down, quickly!
I can still do it in one day!
@ingrid01 that is a huge part of it, I’ve been seriously collecting for 50 years. Yesterday I started culling, at least next year there won’t be quite as many decorations to hang on the memory tree. 😊
@farmreporter oh I know when we downsize in the next couple of years I’m going to have to get very serious about my decorations and decide what I must keep and what I can give away.
We have so much less now we have down sized but the tree is still as big so all the decorations on there are still the same & that’s where the memories are……one good thing we have all the time in the world to take them down.
Wow, As long as you enjoy them and decorating for Christmas, keep them. If you know of anyone who has taken a liking to anything, gift it and you will create more memories.
Fav, LouAnn! I have over 40 of the Wallace silver sleigh bells that go in their individual boxes and took me forever to pack away. We have one for every year of marriage and an extra for my son's birth year, etc. It takes way longer now to put up and take down for me too! Haha!
I love your collage, always work putting up the Christmas decorations and taking them down. As long as you enjoy it and can do it, keep on doing it! lol
So many pretty things! No wonder it takes you more than a day to decorate and un-decorate. My granddaughter helped me take things down this year, and I was amazed at how quickly she got the job done!
Beautiful collage and shots. Lovely story. The most wonderful thing to getting old is that you don't have to hurry in doing things. And I really like that much better than rushing around as if you are being chased by the police, or worse by criminals.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that you gathered more and more decorations over the years? ;)
