The “angel” on Don Gaspar Ave. in Santa Fe, New Mexico

This “mural” was interesting because it was a large sticker, it was glued to the wall! Parts of it are starting to peel away. It was unsettling to see the steer head, to me, and the placement above the gas line was just so odd. I could not find any reference to the artist.
It is quite odd. I see your reference to "Don Gaspar Ave" and I don't know the historical context. It just reminded me of Jose Gaspar, who apparently was a pirate. This weekend is a festival in Tampa called "Gasparilla" where they stage a pirate invasion. It is one of the largest parades in the country.

Nice find. It is certainly unusual, and we are all wondering about its meaning.

It does seem as if it could have been centered better. How in the world do you make a sticker that large?! I think it’s an interesting piece of art under all those circumstances.

The figure is actually very well placed under that canopy all except for the gas line position.

@danette Don Gaspar was a founder of Santa Fe. I guess Gaspar was a common surname those days!

@happysnaps @joemuli @kwind @radiogirl @pcoulson @carole_sandford @happypat @grammyn @eudora @bigmxx @mittens @taffy @beryl @bkbinthecity @ludwigsdiana thank you! It was especially interesting to me that there was not a muralist’s name tied to this. Santa Fe is lovely, very New Age and quirky really. This decal, sticker mural just appearing fits in with Santa Fe’s “uniqueness” quite well. This is on the PP, thank you so much!
