Buffalo by ludwigsdiana

Buffalo

one of our most dangerous animals, fortunately behind double fencing. This is the first month that I saw them in this field. Opposite them there was another field with females and calves. I suppose it is a breeding station and they will be sold off to game reserves.
I don't think I've ever seen so many together. great shot and story.

I am amazed at their horns

They look powerful beasts in contrast to the egrets amongst them.

They definitely look like something I wouldn't want to run into without a fence between. Great shot

Definitely an animal best observed from a distance. Magnificent, though!

What a great capture of these guys. Jerry has been watching documentaries on wild animals. He says these Buffalo are really mean, they use their horns to keep predators at bay.

This may seem like a stupid question but what makes them so dangerous? Or at least what makes them more dangerous than lions or some of the other animals? It’s a beautiful photograph of them even through the fencing.

They are such cool looking creatures!

Those horns are so impressive. Glad they are behind the fence lol

It's sad to think that they could be bred to be sold off to game reserves.

Beautiful animals and they look so strong. Beware those dangerous horns. Terrific capture. Don't jump over the fence to celebrate 2021.

I must have missed this earlier on !-- What wonderful beast and beautiful horns . shame that they are dangerous when they appear so calm behind the fencing !

Super capture of these dangerous animals, do you think that fence would stop them if they wanted out!!
December 31st, 2020
I love how the egrets hang around. Wonderful shot of the wildlife.

A double fence is well worth it, especially when breeding.

Great capture.

@grammyn It is said to have killed more big gsme hunters thn any other animal in Africa. An angry buffalo will circle and stalk its prey, waiting for the perfect moment to tear apart its opponent with its massive thick horns. That's what came up when I googled them Katy :-)

@craftymeg One is an electric fence Margret, I think it should be good enough but who knows ;-)
January 1st, 2021
@merrelyn I think they have a better life there Merrelyn, it sure makes the tourists happy to see them :-)
January 1st, 2021
@ludwigsdiana That's not so bad, I was thought that they were destined to become trophies for game hunters.

Hi. Over the years buffalo in the north of Australia have killed more people than crocodiles, snakes, spiders, sharks etc. they are just mean and angry.
January 1st, 2021
Well spotted. Happy new year to you to. Best wishes.
January 1st, 2021
@ludwigsdiana thanks for that information Diana. We often hear about man eating lions but seldom hear about water buffalo rampages
January 1st, 2021
They look so peaceful just lying there catching some shade. I would step on the gas to get away from them.
January 1st, 2021
Beautiful beasts. I'm glad you're behind two fences.
