Fallow Deer grazing by ludwigsdiana

Fallow Deer grazing

in the deep grass, while a Sable is chilling in the background. The paler one on the left is the female. These are relatively new on the wine estate I pass by regularly.
Beautiful shot. They are beautiful animals.

Eating peacefully.

The sable's horns look even bigger than its body. Both dears are very cute but you have to agree that the male is more charming than the female. Lovely shot and dof.

Not the type of deer (antelope) you expect to see in South Africa. The female makes me think of Bambi.

@salza You are right Sally they were introduced to SA about 150 years age. They are bred as hunting trophies ;-(

@shutterbug49 Thanks Debbie, fortunately not. It is over 1300 km away from us. Still so sad to see :-(
