I like to think my witch is not an evil witch- she just has a sense of humour! I've got the chocolates ready to deal out to children at the door! Happy Halloween, everyone!
On the Journal front: I've typed over 13000 words now and Mum has written of her interest in Leicester. She has relatives in Syston a little village near and enjoyed the Saturday night custom of fish and chips! In 1929! She visited the Cathedral Church of St Martins, Wigston School and enjoyed going through all the old "Gates" of the city. In Abbey Park she had lunch for one shilling! There were 'car conductors' as she called them who held up signs saying: "Stop", "Caution" and "Go" !
@yonnie Only a few - we don't have any children in our road. And as for the stories - I've never known what Mum did in England! She didn't talk about it and I was born about 13 years later! So it is very interesting finding out about the places she went to and what she thought!
@maggiemae Oh, this makes me love what you are doing even more. What a real treasure you have there, Maggiemae, and how fun it must be for you to do it. ENJOY.
@happypat These diaries have been in storage for absolute years, Pat. Mum died in 2000 and we never discussed her early travels unfortunately as happens!
Great shot,hi there sorry all been really otherwise occupied but will make an effort to get back on track.I thought i'd just do the sweet basket for the kids trolling tonight but no such thing Carmellia says the all the neighbourhood kids expect our house to be holloweened ,so i better ger cracking have a great day.
Love your witch, Maggiemae. A woman after my heart. We no longer hand out candy but always handed out chocolate to the young kids and a bit of a variety to the older kids. Sounds like a wonderful time and life had by your Mom.
I'm sure you are continuing to enjoy your typing. Did you know most of the stories before you started recording them?
Thx for the update on the journal. Always fascinating to hear about.
