Seafront by maggiemae

Seafront

It is November here in Dunedin, NZ and yesterday the temps were 21degC. Today it is 10degC! Too cold for a walk down the beautiful but destructive beach! The waves crash into the seafront and have destroyed the steps going down on to the beach.

Three good things:
1. We had a lovely mussel and clam pizza in an Italian cafe looking over this scene,
2 I stopped myself turning into aa mock Italian fool by trying to reply in Italian to the dapper head waiter!
3. I'm hunkering after a Mac Airbook now instead of the iPad!
Beautiful scene...the water looks lovely!

it is november here in toronto also, and our high today was a balmy -9 degrees celcius with strong winds and semi-icy pavement due to the snow yesterday. your weather has a good chance of warming up, ours will just be getting colder. can't wait till january when i go visit manila and the islands. nice view for a pizza lunch!

What a beautiful shot, Maggiemae. Did you get the mac air book? I have the iPad mini and love it but it does not hold all of my photos. Still it is a lot of fun. Have fun with whatever you get.

@darsphotos I'm not getting anything, Darlene- budget won't allow! It's called Apple Envy!

Just about to say where people are? That is New Zealand, you can never predict weather.

@maggiemae Sorry about that. Save up and you will eventually get one. They are a lot of fun to use and then away from the desktop.

I know exactly this restaurant at St Clair's Beach! I went there about 3 years ago in May and stayed right near there while in a reccie to get Luke into Otago. I loved this beach! First time I saw paddle boarders. The water was freezing and they had every part of themselves covered. Enjoy!

@andreajoy there is nothing really like this beach anywhere else in NZ! Great to hear your comment!

Lovely colours. It was so hot yesterday we had to come inside. Today we are shivering our butts off!

A great view

Ma Air is expensive...I think Judith has one & it took her a while to get used to it.
A big difference in temp from one day to the other maggimae.....never been as far down as that ...next stop South Pole!!!

Not quite summer yet, one day when I'm brave enough I'm coming to cycle NZ!!!
November 25th, 2013
Fabulous view.! Shouldn't it be getting warmer there? Too bad about the steps, is this unusual for you? Looks like a lovely place!

It looks like a lovely place to go for walks (when it's not so cold). Too bad about the steps though.

Lovely to see the sea! Would love to walk here. I have a Mac Air laptop for work and I don't like it very much. I'd much rather use my iPad.

It must be lovely to live so close to the sea, that looks an amazing place to walk
November 25th, 2013
@leananiemand have you ever read any of Josie Dew's books? She has cycled just about everywhere including NZ!

Ooh a nice lunch there sounds fab.

@happypat mine is a desktop Mac but yes - took me a while to sort out email etc. Would quite like a MacAir as well!

A wonderful view and capture Maggie.

hunkering or hankering maggie :) ...i like the starkness of the scene ....I don't know what's to the right of the frame but i might have tried to use the lamp post as a stopper on the left hand side of the frame..what do you think ?
November 25th, 2013
Wonderful view and very nice capture!
November 26th, 2013
It's winter here too- and certainly not beach weather at 40 degrees and windy! But how nice to be sitting in a comfy restaurant and looking out over the ocean.
November 26th, 2013
I like deserted seafronts and I like your capture of this one. Our temperature here in Toronto just now is 0.3 C. and it's snowing, so your 10 C. sounds pretty good to me!
November 26th, 2013
I would love to be out dining overlooking that beautiful tranquil beach scene. Sigh.
November 26th, 2013
great beach view! so Italian restaurants/cafes are popular in NZ too? The Roman empire must be still spreading! Funny how popular those concrete balls are near beaches! We have quite a few here too! We've had quite big variations in temperature and weather lately. It was very cold (almost wintery) today, although sunny, tomorrow we could go up to 29 degrees! Hard to keep up with!
November 26th, 2013
Looks amazing, but that is a dramatic swing in temps.. x
November 26th, 2013
Beautiful shot.
November 27th, 2013
It looks so beautiful! Even with the dramatic weather. Mussel and clam pizza, I would love it!

Jo
Looks like winter! It's been like that here, one moment a heat wave, the next moment winter.
