Oamaru, NZ, puts on a tremendous affair during Victorian Week. A party in the beautiful Public Gardens where everybody can enjoy a cup of tea poured from a silver teapot into proper cups and most dress up! Sandwiches, scones with jam and cream followed by cake with icing are all free! Tourists cannot believe it.
These are two delightfully clad youngsters walking across the lawns.
Three good things;
1. The weather was gorgeous this morning when we boarded the small train that was going to take us around the harbour to the Breakfast restaurant where I was playing the Uke with our group
2. The recital wasn't too bad.
3. The Mayor was rowed across the harbour in a small rowing boat to this restaurant and everyone hoped he would fall in - but he didn't - he's a helluva good guy!
What a fantastic event - such fun to all dress up. I love the idea of the tea and cakes all being free. Oamaru sounds like a lovely place to live!! You made me smile at the vision of the Mayor being rowed across the harbour !! I hope he enjoyed your recital!!
#3I he is such a great guy why did they want him to fall in?
