This steaming monster chugged into Oamaru pulling over 400 people from Dunedin! A mighty and noisy engine, it brought lots of people to admire it. The photo is HDR'd but thought it looked good with all the steam and the clouds!
On its departure from Oamaru the steam engine set fire to the surrounding dry scrub along the railway and there was a scurry of fire engines !
Three good things;
1. I got the first fire on my camera and took a series of photos till a nearby digger put it out.
2. These sorts of spectacles with noise and magnificence give me a lump in my throat.
3. Pizza delivered right to the front door!
This is pretty amazing HDR, Maggiemae!! The colors are so vibrant, and I am truly impressed that you were able to get these bracketed shots with so many people in them, and in such a moving environment! Great processing.....almost makes it look like something out of a movie set! FAV!
Wonderful shot maggienae....so full of life & atmosphere! Could be out of a picture book for children! Fave! Fire would be a bit worrying in the heat of the summer!
@happypat Thanks for your fav, Pat! There wasn't much wind so they were able to contain the fires with helicopters and every available fire engine in the district!
@maggiemae ours was Dominoes too but they had done something wrong with it. The base was foul. Even the nachos were burned - it was tempting to take it back but it was too cold out (hence the delivery in the first place).
Awesome HDR shot and how wonderful to see an old steam engine train! Excellent POV & background. That puff of smokes goes well with the clouds, too. Fav.
Great capture and nice processing. It looks like something from the cover of a magazine. Very nicely done. Fav. Pizza delivery is the best. Why go out and get it when they can bring it right to you?
I always think of you as the HDR Queen. Another lovely shot. I love steam engines; we have a narrow guage one near us and one year the sparks lit the hillside and the only way the fireman could get to it was by the train!
INSTANT FAV (and sorry for shouting)
