A quiet hillside suburb by maggiemae

A quiet hillside suburb

This is really just a practice in getting focus right and I originally used the two little birds on the roof at the bottom to focus on then moved my POV further up. I quite liked this look. Taken from our hotel window.

Three good things:
1. Hurrah for NZ's senior citizen policies. We got the airport bus to travel to the city. Didn't have enough cash for the bus and they wouldn't take a card then we found if we had a gold card, it was free!
2. Meeting with an old neighbour of 30 years ago who lived close by. Our children grew up together.
3. This hotel had a beautiful pool which kept calling me but I couldn't be bothered with all the undressing and redressing! A bit tired.
4. Found we could log our computers on to our mobile phones for internet access.
It's kind of magical -- like we are floating above the city to see the houses from a bird's eye view.

Is this in Wellington maggiemae? I have never been there but I know it's holy. We did see some of the hill & cable car on the news today when they were talking about the cricket. They do look very nice houses I must say...could live there myself! I feel like that about swimming many a time specially in our cold climate!

@happypat I love mistakes like this - make me laugh! Like when John and I are talking and we each say what we think the other one said!

@julzmaioro So many NZ cities/towns are built around the harbour and the hills rise up from the sea!

It's beautiful, and my eye was instantly drawn up to the homes nestled n the trees. I would have missed the birds altogether if you hadn't mentioned them. FAV

Missed the birds all together. was more interested in the homes in the hill, but nice that they are also in your picture. A short stay at a hotel, I skip the pool for the same reason. love your picture and will make it a fav.

Love the pov and crop here, and also the way the houses are framed by the trees.

@bruni Yes, I think if I was staying more than 1 night at a hotel with a pool I would plan a good swim! Thanks for the fav, Bruni!

Driving into Wellington I am always reminded of that song that went ' little boxes, little boxes, all on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky, little boxes all the same, there's a green one and a blue one..........

Lovley hillside community..love the forest up the hill and I bet there is a great view.

@eyesmile Being a harbour side development, Gena - there are views everywhere. Most of NZ's cities and towns are exactly like this - except on the West Coast of both islands

Lovely capture. I like the birds on the roof but the architecture and lines behind them are really nice to the eye.
