This is the lounge of the hotel we are staying in. The same hotel I stayed in aged 13, 60 years ago! I love hotels like this with long corridors, carpet everywhere, old pictures hanging on picture rails, etched glass doors like these.
Three good things;
1. The proprietor was thrilled at the photo I brought of the hotel 60 years ago. Even more thrilled when he found out John was Burt Munro's son!
2. Some lovely evening skies where church spires and towers were outlined.
3. Heaters everywhere as it was very cold with rain today - 6deg! There would be snow somewhere!
Have you seen Harry down there? I keep saying Alex should go & introduce herself but she is not interested for some strange reason!
Looks a comfy hotel! Are you on holiday or motorcycle business?
@happypat We are invited guests to the launch of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport in Dunedin today, Pat. Harry's been here - went down to Stewart Island which was good for him and them. Then to Wanaka where the weather wasn't too good. John's moaning about the cost of the trip to the tax payer!
@maggiemae He he well men do that....moan about money I mean! Enjoy the launch.....Harry might come to that ...probably get one given knowing the usual score! You are obviously top big wigs these days I am surprised you haven't been invited to tea with Harry!!
I love the look of the hotel Maggiemae. I bet the owner was pleased to see that photo!! Hope you enjoyed the launch - you both get invited to all the exciting things!! I visited Stewart Island on my NZ trip and I loved it especially the birds!! How I would love to do that trip again!!
@tigerdreamer It was super - comfy bed, en suite nice furnishings but with over 300 rooms I was surprised it kept going! I think the big buses unload their passengers here in the early evening and pick them up the next day without even seeing Dunedin!
Great shot, Maggie. Love the interior. It looks like a beautiful place. I don't believe you when you say you stayed there 60 years ago. You don't look old enough.
