Moving on from the coast of the North Island in NZ we drove through little green and enchanting river valleys to bigger plains spreading out into big farming country. This is half way to the city of Napier again on the east coast but a prosperous and popular area.
Three good things:
1. A big smile from a cafe owner in Ekatahuna when she saw us coming through the door. It was a tiny place and looked most unappealing but the coffee was good and the welcome was warm.
2. A power board we brought keeps so many items recharged when the building is old and there is only one plug available. The camera with the GPS turned on needs recharging every night!
3. Picking salad for tea straight from the garden where John's daughter lives (my sweet stepdaughter) - snow peas, nasturtiums, lettuces, watercress, baby broad beans!
New territory completely for me maggiemae....it looks very homely & I love that bright cherry blossom looking tree among the green... How lovely visiting family en route....keeps you feeling loved & familer. In our house those adaptor boards are essential. These modern must haves all need charging every night.....it's a job in itself plugging them all in!
Sounds like a great adventure!! we too have a great place that from the outside most would stay away...again great coffee and breakfast!! Great image and view!!
This looks like the heartland....so green and lush, and I assuming agricultural with good climate and fertile soil....and, lots of rains!! Someday we will visit NZ....until then, I will enjoy it and get to know it through your photos!
