Down the road to get our Mercedes, called Sadie, serviced. As usual we lunch at this fabulous beach place. This little scene happened in front of us - thought it was a pedal car but no - no knees went up and down. Then we saw the mother behind with the remote control!… and its a Mercedes Benz!
A nicer scene than the one we first came upon here - an old lady had collapsed on the road with a bloody nose. I helped divert cars and others got an ambulance.
Three good things:
1. Sun and surfing were all on today! Do these guys on boards, work?
2. Had a loan car while Sadie was being refreshed - wow!
3. Cat is still fine - drinking water now - no eating though! 12 days!
Whatever next! A lovely scene for you to capture but I'm horrified about the remote control! It seems just a tad OTT for me!
Good news about the cat. Hope you see improvement every day!
Nicely spotted and well done with traffic directing, Maggiemae. However I can beat this story and picture. Sometime last year I saw a similar electric remotely controlled car being used on the pavement near my house. I would guess by his age it was being driven by the child's Grandfather. Upon reaching a busy main road, he waited for the lights to change, and then drove it across the road to the other side and continued on his way.
It was then I think that someone phoned the police. About five of them turned up quite speedily in three vehicles and proceeded to talk to him. They weren't happy, he wasn't happy, but I am not sure what they thought they should do about it. They kept arguing, while two of the police seemed to be spending a long time on their radios.
Finally they ordered a taxi, put the electric car into it and sent them off home.
I don't think the problem was the car or the driver, it seemed to be the passenger. Unlike in your picture Maggiemae, it wasn't a toddler, it was a baby. Difficult to tell as it was well wrapped up, but I would have said it was around 6 months old. It wasn't old enough to sit up and watch where it was going. Where the cockpit/seating area was they had put a big soft pillow and the baby was just lying on the pillow.
I think the police got them a taxi to save themselves a load of paperwork. Where would they begin, underage driving, unlicensed driver, un taxed vehicle, uninsured vehicle, driving on the pavement, not wearing a seatbelt, not being in full control of the vehicle, the list could go on and on.
Great shot with great composition. I like the pop of red from the car. I am a bit appalled though that this car is a remote control one. I am concerned about the safety of this child.
@happysnaps I'm not holding out much hope, Valerie - took her again to the Vet and she is lost for a reason why our sweet pussy is hanging on for so long without food!
A great way for the little boy to do some exercise! I prefer the old ones when the child used to paddle them on and using all their energy in doing so. I have never seen one with mum in charge with the remote.
A remote mercedes??? What has our world come to? The child doesn't even need to use any leg muscles so we are training them early to live a sedentary life? At least the parents are walking. Well spotted and caught!
@markp -- that is truly an incredibly unbelievable story! But of course, I trust the source of this story.
