Luxury

Mojave Desert - Pronounced, Mohavie. The dominant geologic features of this landscape are hills of bare rock, usually broken up into loose boulders. These hills are popular among and rock climbing enthusiasts.

The flatland between these hills is sparsely forested with Joshua trees. Together with the boulder piles the trees make the landscape otherworldly.

We traversed this territory enjoying the desolation and magnificence of the scenery
Three good things;
1. No fuel, no service, no food for miles and miles - didn’t suffer.
2. Our destination, a historic stone house was a total delight. This was our room… an interesting picture on the wall?
3. Joshua Trees are just the world’s largest yucca. Got a good photo then discovered a mark on my lens after I had downloaded it!
were you surprised when you saw your photo on the wall? your popularity has now spread worldwide! :-)

that is one very nice room. i could sleep in it the whole day!

@francoise Its a bit like a desert outside Francoise but there are many wonderful, tall and shady trees!
July 22nd, 2017
@grammyn It might be a bit 'inyerface' though, Katy. Might eliminate it when we go!
July 22nd, 2017
Funny, I've just been reading up on Joshua trees and hadn't realised they were in fact yuccas growing in desert areas. Lucky you seeing them for real.

Super room and I really like how they've personalised it for you!

July 22nd, 2017
@dawnee I think I should have made it smaller but then it wouldn't be recognisable, Dawn!
July 22nd, 2017
Looks like a lovely place to recharge your batteries. How clever to get your portrait on the wall :-)
July 22nd, 2017
I too would be worried about my feet sticking out of the end of the bed. But otherwise, what luxury, and I do like the way you have added the very elegant portrait.
July 22nd, 2017
@helenhall Take all the trendy cushions off, Helen and its a full size bed!
July 22nd, 2017
Huge bed. We slept in a super king size bed in Melbourne once and needed mobile phones to talk to each other. ha ha

I really don't get the trend of putting hundreds of cushions on a bed. You have to put them on the floor when you get into bed.

We stayed at one place where there were 11 cushions on the bed as well as the four pillows. Madness!
July 23rd, 2017
Gorgeous place.
July 23rd, 2017
I especially like the capture of the spirit in the mirror or is that a photo? '-) Wonderful, warm feel.
July 23rd, 2017
@onewing I agree -got to put them all on the floor then you trip over them on nightly visits in the dark! Makes it look luxurious though!
July 23rd, 2017
@elatedpixie That is a selfie I took on the computer and layered it on!
July 23rd, 2017
What a lovely place to stay!
July 23rd, 2017
Lovely image! Cute addition of you in the mirror.
July 23rd, 2017
@philcameron59
Interesting bed...about the size of a boxing ring? A combination of the POV and the bed being much wider than what most us are used to, suggests shorter length. Illusory.
July 23rd, 2017
Such luxurious setting and calming colours to rest and sleep ! Love it ! fav

July 26th, 2017
Bev
Beautiful room!
July 26th, 2017
That is one posh desert oasis! And a portrait of the famous author/photographer Maggie Munro too- the only thing better would be an endless supply of photographic equipment.
July 28th, 2017
Oh, and a map to find your way off the bed.
July 28th, 2017
@olivetreeann Really neat response, thanks Ann! I'm in photographic mood where I twiddle the settings!
