The challenge was set -some Americanisms and some Britishisms.
I had to change units to metric, couldn’t find NZ food items only American calorific counts.
I went for a 22min bike ride and the calorific output was only about 65 cals! This was taken on our Bike Trail and i’m sure I used more cals. Perhaps not,
The Fitbit displayed your heartbeat too. Here was the time, the date, the heartbeat and the number of steps.
Three good things;
1. It doesn’t worry me!
2. It was so cold doing that bike ride, but I came back to a warm house!
3. My sleep pattern is particularly successful - go to bed early, wake up late!
These seem to be the new "thing". I don't know if it would motivate me or make me wish I never started it! Good for you- looks like a great place to walk.
My Fitbit is the early model and it doesn't tell me things like calories burnt, I think I am quite glad, sure I would get dejected! This looks as if you are in a wonderful place to walk and cycle anyway, regardless of calories!
@maggiemae Is is part of the Alps to ocean... so lots of 'parts; of it when down in Twizel/ Tekapo area... everyone we talked to were impressed with it..
Don't take the readings of your Fitbit as gospel. During recent tests one comment from a scientist friend of ours said that considering the cost of a Fitbit it is about as reliable as a two bob watch. Hope he is wrong, at least for all of the thousands of people who own a Fitbit.
@onewing I agree Babs - how can it be accurate when there are so many ways to walk, run, bike etc. Weight effort etc. And the size of the servings of food can all be different. Just a bit of fun and a good incentive!
That's my sleep pattern too at the moment maggie, all change tomorrow when I go to the boys! The Fitbit sounds complicated & I would be dead disappointed with that number after twelve miles! Lovely photo though!
This is true - I am always amazed at how few calories are burned during activity compared to how much we put in our mouths! You have to make sure you set stride length etc for it to be more accurate. I don't take mine as gospel but I do quite enjoy looking at the numbers some days!
Impressive looking numbers! Who did the driving up the hill? You, or Ruby? My workout teacher tells us we must walk .91 m to burn off the calories of one M&M! So your fit bit was probably not lying to you. I like this view for your photo and I love the inset of your fit bit showing your numbers
