Rather than do my own apples (not that I have any) I have found tinned apples are just right. Either sliced as is here, or diced as is not here! Other centres are, strawberry, rhubarb, gooseberry which have to be green.
So delicious especially as we don't normally have dessert.
@grammyn Thanks Katy! I would have liked to wait to photograph it for the ice cream to start to melt down over the shortcake - but couldn't wait that long!
