Crush a leaf from a sassafras tree and you get the aroma of root beer! Some people love sassafras tea, although that's made from the roots - not the leaves. It is one of the ingredients in root beer and for a native north American tree, it has quite a culinary history.
My 310th photo... Never thought I'd get this far. Not long now!
Uploading very early since I have chores to do and errands to run over the next couple of days.
Lovely green tones and very interesting info. For some reason I thought you were well into year two.....congrats on your progress in year one and now you're heading down the home stretch. Well done, Maggie!
Your pov is fabulous on this. Love the green. I didn't know that they have the aroma of root beer--interesting!!! Hope you get all of your chores done.
What beautiful leaves and love the lighting, Maggie. I have heard of sassafras before but nice to know more about it. Wow, congrats on 310 photos. I sure hope you will stay on here one you finish one year. Just looked at your # of favs and I thought only I faved a lot but all are worthy of it in my eyes. Good luck with the chores. I need a nap.
Beautiful lighting and colors ...love your textures and the pov! So you are nearing the end. Say it isn't so, my friend. Would leave me broken-hearted if you left... can't even think about it.
Lovely shot Maggie and what I like about your photos is they so often come with a story or information - not only to we get a visual feast but we learn something, as well.
@karenann Sometime next April, I think! I got it for the artist challenge and I think it was April. Pretty sure. LOL! I know what you mean... I've had too many straws on my camel's back lately.
@wannabe Thank you, Catherine! I used to like it when I was little. Not so much when I hit my teens. Hope I can get 'er done, too! Gotta get downtown to see about a warehouse job, if they'll hire me. Got the usual once every two week grocery shopping to do, too and other stuff. All my chores may not get done. Every time I turn around, it's time to do them again! Why does it have to be like that?!!! LOL!
@ellimae Thank you, Ellen! Grateful for your lovely comments, as always. I'll be around until my ACE runs out, at least. Then I will have to re-evaluate my circumstances.
The lighting, color and detail are beautiful. I like how you tell us about these things in your commentary. I am clueless when it comes to most plants.
@jaboney Thank you for your kind comments, Mike! I really don't know much either. I search Google and the plant sites for the info. I am naturally curious when I find a plant I don't know about. Same with trees, insects, birds and other critters.
