Rendered with a filter from On1. There used to be lens attachments for film cameras that would render this effect. But there was a more economical method of tightly wrapping Glad Wrap around your lens with a rubber band and applying a little Vaseline around the edge which worked really well at the time. I don't think I'd try it with a digital camera though.
Very nice, though a bit dizzying. I have seen suggestions of that technique for digital cameras. And I never understood why, since most editing programs have that. And I guess cameras have that effect built-in (but who bothers to look in the menu?)
Beautiful scene. I would prefer you to lighten up the blurry places a little and to make the borderline smoother. But that's just my habit. I do not like computer work and I prefer to achieve such effects on the camera. I have an old UV filter that I have wiped out with petroleum jelly and it gives great effect. It is already a bit scratched but this only enhances the blur effect.
@monikozi Thanks, Monica. My old digital doesn't have that option and I dare not try the wrap and jelly on my only old digital.
@haskar Thank you, Hasar. It was a dreary rainy day when I shot this. I dare not try the wrap and jelly on my one and only old digital but it worked very well for me in the 70s and was a tip from my late photography professor. He had to save us budget conscious students a little cash from having to buy lens attachments. =)
@marlboromaam - I remember reading an article in a photography magazine where they talked about actually putting the vasoline on the lens. I never tried it. I know how hard it is to get vasoline off of things.
@skipt07 The Glad Wrap was a tip from my late photography professor back in the 70s. Yes, very hard to get off. I apply it to my bird feeder poles. The squirrels don't like to get their feet all gunky with it.

A relief to know that it is a blurred effect.
