Living and dead...

What causes trees to grow and mesh together, I have no clue. But three parts are still living and the rest have died and hollowed out. Makes for some kind of a stump creature, yes? Shot in monochrome mode 2/5, and rendered in Pixel Bender and Photoshop's cross hatch filter.
