Third shot fired out of the Canon...

Again with the 75-300mm lens. No need to comment. I'm not trying to take great shots yet. I'm just finding out what it will do. I'm really amazed at the detail. The swamp maple is about to bloom with those little fuzzy hot pink flowers that the Cedar Waxwings love to eat. That's a mourning dove nest up there leftover from the summer. Shot this from the deck and this tree is about 30 feet away from where I was standing!
Nice detail. I am just now getting your captions!

@danette Thank you, Danette. ??? About my new "renewed" toy?

@wh2021 Thank you!

you are doing well with the canon ...where do you get your can balls from for your shots ? Is it safe ?

Nice and sharp looks like the new camera is working well.

Very nice detail. I can see all those tiny buds. Great shot.

@phil_howcroft Thank you, Phil. LOL! It might not be safe to be around when I shoot. =)

@larrysphotos Thank you, Larry.

@dkellogg Thank you, David. I have so much to learn. I tried some closeups with the 18-55mm lens, but was so unhappy with them being blurry on AF and on MF. I'll have to figure it out.

Great focus from so far! You have a new camera? Congratulations!

@corinnec Thank you so much, Corinne. Yes, a new "renewed" one. I have a whole lot to learn about it. =)

@marlboromaam so exciting!
January 20th, 2023
@corinnec LOL! It's more frustrating than exciting at the moment. It's very different from my little Kodak that I still love very much. Just one fixed lens allowing me to switch from landscape to macro within one click. I have to change lens with the Canon and all the settings and buttons are in different places. *sigh* I just have to get used to it.

The detail is really great. You’ll be used to the new toy in no time!

Wonderful detail!

@ljmanning Thank you, Laura.

@kjarn Thank you, Kathy.

@marlboromaam there’s a lot to focus on with a shot like this. When I play around with a shot like this, I had better results with a smaller aperture like f/11 or f/16. But then you loose any bokeh. Some shots can be frustrating, but it’s fun to figure it out.

@dkellogg For closeups I'm supposed to use a tripod. This camera has no IS like my little Kodak does. However, I'll try some closeups with the normal lens again and see if I can change the settings. Macro lens are so damn expensive, I'm also looking at the tube extensions since I'm supposed to use a tripod anyway. I thought I had good focus, but the slightest camera shake and boom - they're fuzzy.

@dkellogg BTW, this shot was on auto focus, ISO and aperture.

Such a wonderful tangle of branches and buds, your camera sure does a good job!

Nice detail

@ludwigsdiana Thanks, Diana. The 70-300mm lens works well without much effort to focus on the far away.

@Dawn Thank you, Dawn.

It is a great shot! I have never knew those nests were mourning doves. I see them everywhere. How cool!
January 21st, 2023
@pamalama Thank you, Pam. I never would've known either if I hadn't spooked momma out of the nest several times this past summer. =)
