From the hay meadow, looking across the field, to the hills in the south.

@denidouble gave me the Get Pushed challenge of taking landscapes. I went out to our farmland last night -- the farm that Frank inherited from his parents. Parts of it have been in his family for going on 150 years. Someone else does the farming for us now. This is only part of the view from up on a hay meadow looking to the south. It does not even come close to doing justice to the beautiful 360 degree views from up there. I may later try to crudely put several together to give a broader view, but this will have to do for now. This part of Kansas, called the Flint Hills, is not at all the absolute flat landscape (found in the western part of the state) that many think of when they think of Kansas. Probably because I grew up here, I particularly love these hills -- even more so because the trees are located on the lower land -- along creek beds etc., leaving the sensual shape of the hills themselves more exposed. Dare I say, like the abstracted curves of a nude body...I could point you to some gorgeous professional photography of this landscape. But the whole point of 365 is to learn what I can do with the camera and skills I have, and continue to increase the skills. I made some adjustments to saturation (and, I think, something else) in a vain attempt to equal what my eyes saw last evening. It's hard for me to judge on the screen of the laptop as it depends on angle of view etc. Feedback very welcome.
@denidouble Here's the first attempt for your Get Pushed challenge. I have some other shots from last night, and if I have time I'll take other landscape photos elsewhere. "Watch this space" as they say. I figured it would be less of a time commitment (time at a premium right now) to go out to the hay meadow, than go to the Konza Prairie (also just outside of town) and walk the trails, where I told you I'd been wanting to go. Let me know what you think.

I like the grasses and tree in the foreground leading the viewer in with the curves (Hogarth's line of beauty) to the distance. Looks like you are in landscape heaven!

@mcsiegle I think it's lovely, almost like an English countryside in it's green and gold layers. I think you have done a wonderful job for your challenge, congrats and a fav from me for your effort.

@sbolden Thank you. When I'm out where I can get a good view of our wonderful landscape sometimes I do feel like it's a bit of heaven. It's not got the spectacular beauty of mountain ranges or Grand Canyon etc, but when we lived in Minnesota for 28 years and would drive home to KS for a week in the summer, as soon as we hit the stretch of I-70 that brought us closer to home and through some gorgeous views of the hills, I would always catch my breath and think how much I love them. This photo doesn't do them nearly the justice I wish I could.

@denidouble Wow, thank you Deni. Thanks for the fav. Someday maybe I'll see the English countryside you are talking about. Sounds really lovely.
