I know that on Sunday when I posted the "Cozy" picture of two of the dinosaurs, I said I was going to look for more exciting projects to submit to their themes committee. But my get pushed partner, Dianna Coile
@dmcoile challenged me to "create an image that shows a wish or goal for the new year. If the dinosaurs can help, that would be great!"
Well, my resolution for this new year is to get more on top of filing -- of all sorts of media such as paper files, computer files, and old photos taken on film. I have a couple of drawers full and they are not very well organized. I decided to start with those photos. Knowing I'm going to need help and encouragement, I asked if any of the dinosaurs would be willing to help me with that -- no long term commitments needed, just this one evening.
The adult Apatosaurus, one of the two Apatosaurus youngsters, and the Stegosaurus said they'd do it. I'm so glad they did. They were a real help, pulling the packets out and opening them up. They even helped identify when and where some of the photos from Minneapolis were taken.
Then we ran into these photos of Frank's dad and we just had to stop and look at them. Even though the photos didn't date from when Frank was a boy, they took the dinosaurs back to that time when they lived in the house with him and his mom and dad. Some reminiscing took place and I saw a couple of tears hastily wiped away. The dinosaurs and Neanderthal Man haven't seen Frank's dad for a long, long time. I'm not sure when they came up to Minnesota. We moved there in 1973, but I think they stayed in Kansas for a while. Anyway, once they moved north they never saw him again. When we visited on vacation, we never took any dinosaurs with us. And his dad passed away before we all moved back to Manhattan.
We did get back on track, but not before I remembered my get pushed challenge and got out the camera to take this picture. I've still got a lot of photos to sort out. All we did that evening was label a good bunch of packets. I need to get an archival safe pen to write on the back who is in each photo and when/where it was taken. I think it will take well into 2017.
ALL the dinosaurs and Neandethal Man join Frank and me in wishing you all a Happy New Year.
Happy New Year to you.
