Don't try to read any meaning into this. It truly was just a test. Friday I decided to quickly try out the scanner for the technique challenge. I took the first thing that came to hand, which was a set of magnetic poetry type words. The set is called "William's Wit Kit: Create your own Shakespearean insults" The words appearing here are truly random. I just poured out a handful, spread them onto the glass, and scanned the mess. So much for a quick test. I really have to clean the glass. I have no idea why I bothered to take it out to ribbet.com, crop, adjust for exposure and contrast, and then spend an inordinate amount of time cloning out the remaining dust specks etc. I may, before the challenge ends, try to create something beautiful or striking such as others have produced. Posting this because the whole of this past week is blank on my project.
hi mary I could have sworn i had issued you a challenge but i think i went to sleep thinking about it and dreamt it! i opened my photography book and it was about using artworks as props, ie. combining scenes, objects and pictures for a surreal effect, take a look at Mari Mahr's work to see what i mean http://marimahr.com/works/index.html
fun set of words, and works for the scanner because most are at the same depth. But having an intent to try that technique out, I wonder if more depth would work?
@jyokota I wonder the same thing. If I do make a more serious attempt, it will have more varied mix of depths, (in addition to a cleaner glass) my scanner is one of those combo machines. I hope it will work...
